Consultant Architect
Frank
Newbery has been a Senior Architect at Probyn Miers since 2011, and was
previously a Consultant at Hurd Rolland Partnership. Since 2003 he has been engaged principally in
providing expert analysis, advice and reports for construction disputes and litigation
involving architects. His expertise is
derived from over 20 years in architectural practice, during which he was a
successful project architect for contracts up to about £5m. His consultancy activities are grounded in
direct personal experience of all key professional tasks including client
liaison, design, planning and building control consents, technical detailing
and production information, contract administration and obtaining resolution of
defects. This experience includes a wide variety of project types including
offices, schools, hospital buildings, housing, private houses, new build and
refurbishment.
Registered
architect and RIBA member since 1982.
Member of the Academy of Experts since 2007. Member of the Society of Construction Law since
2009.
Recent
solicitor clients include: Beale & Co; Davies Arnold Cooper; Hill
Dickinson; Parabis Law; Plexus Law; SNR Denton; Wilkins Beaumont Suckling.
Frank
Newbery has considerable experience and proven skill in:-
● Forming and expressing fully reasoned opinions on matters of
construction technology and architectural professionalism, soundly supported by
relevant documents and precedents.
● Identifying
and extracting critical information from multiple sources including direct site
investigations, project records, drawings in printed and electronic form, the
internet generally.
● Producing
clear, cogent, thoroughly literate and numerate reports suitable for use in
legal proceedings, or to assist in dispute resolution.
● Dealing
with representatives of other parties’ interests, constructively and with
appropriate caution. Polite and
confident speaker, conventionally presentable appearance.
● Understanding
the role of different construction industry participants such
as engineers, quantity surveyors, contractors, subcontractors, project managers
etc, and the ways in which these roles may be linked by different forms of
contracts.
● Using
computer skills to support the above activities, including ability to produce
quick and accurate illustrative drawings (2D and 3D) using Sketchup
Professional and Photoshop. Also some
experience and direct use of Asta Powerproject.
